A movement of purpose.
Good News Church of God is a bilingual, multicultural church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. We believe summer is a time for kids to grow, explore, and create lasting memories — so we created Camp Mahoro: a safe, exciting environment where children can have fun, deepen their relationship with God, and develop their character.
"This year's theme is Pivot — the decision to change. Each day is designed to help campers make bold, God-led turns toward purpose, peace, and identity in Christ."
Daily Schedule
Five Days of Pivot
Five powerful days exploring what it means to turn — toward God, toward healing, toward purpose. Open to campers ages 7 and up.
Arrive & Align
Bus leaves Good News Church at 3:30pm. Check-in at 6pm — settle in, ice breakers, worship, and an opening message on what it means to make the decision to change.
Turn Toward Truth
Morning devotionals, group teachings, and outdoor adventures grounded in discovering God's truth about who you are.
Walk It Out
Community service, mentorship circles, and creative expression — putting the pivot into action in real, everyday life.
Commissioning Day
Celebrate the journey. Campers are commissioned carrying Mahoro — the peace of Christ — and the courage to keep pivoting.
Clean Up & Goodbyes
Final breakfast, pack up, cabin clean up, group photos, and goodbyes before heading home.
